TEXT: “She will bear a Son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. (v.21)”

Here is a good news story of freedom to celebrate Australia Day.

On Christmas day I was privileged and delighted to hear some wonderful news of a family who were literally set free.

On Facebook, an Egyptian Christian friend told me that he and his family were in Australia. They were in Melbourne. Thinking that it would be so nice to meet up with them, I asked how long they were visiting and what were their travel plans.

Then he said that they are now living here, and that they are refugees. He then explained how they were given protection visas and quickly flown out of Egypt, as their lives were in danger. I had not imagined that things had been so bad for them.

In phone conversations since, he told be of how they had been in hiding for two years. It was not safe for them to go out, and whenever they did it was with extreme care. Other Christian brothers and sister would bring them food.

It seemed so uncanny that at this very time I was reading in the Bible how Mary and Joseph had to escape the persecution of Herod. God told them to go to Egypt. And the Bible tells us that “they stayed there until Herod’s death. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: ‘I called my Son out of Egypt.’”

And my friends were called out of Egypt, and brought to safety in Australia, free to fly like the birds. They are so happy to be here, and so proud to call Australia their home.

Isn’t that exactly what Jesus does for believers?

He saves us and sets us free, just like His name, JESUS (or in Hebrew, YESHUAH). It means salvation or deliverance. Hence “He will saves His people from their sins.”

And look what I found in my Zodhiate’s Lexicon:

  • The Hebrew word for save, ”Yasha”, originally meant “to be open, wide or free.”
  • This is the opposite to tsarar (6887) which means “to cramp”, having the connotation of distress, being in trouble or affliction.
  • Put simply, when one has plenty of room in which to move, he feels safe and secure.

Oh, HALLELUJAH!!

Just like our Egyptian friends, Jesus came to rescue us from the tyrant Satan, and break the chains of sin that bound down, and set us free. Our Deliverer has opened wide the gates of captivity, released and rescued us. He continually defends and preserves us.

Let us sing with the Psalmist:
If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
When men rose up against us,
Then they would have swallowed us alive,
When their wrath was kindled against us;
Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,
The stream would have gone over our soul;
Then the swollen waters
Would have gone over our soul.
Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
(124:2-8, NKJ)

However, let remember our Christian brothers and sisters who still face persecution in countries like Egypt. May our Lord deliver them too.

Autumn Leaves Greeting Card – “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecc 3:1, ESV)

GREETING CARDS  (ORDER BELOW) – $4.50 ea  or $8 pair

Well, it is not that season here.  We are in the middle of Spring.

But funny thing… seasons are different for each one of us. What might be the right season for you may not be for me, and visa versa.

While the top part of the world are bringing out their winter woollies, we down under are just putting ours away… (bring on summer!!) … Then for those in the middle it is either wet or dry season.

It is the same when it comes to our lives. We need to live and work in God’s seasons for our lives.  Let us not complain about our weather.  Let us not wish we were somewhere else.  And let us not conform to others in a different season.

Instead, let us thank God for the season we are in, appreciating the good, and learning from the bad.

Remember too, that it will pass.  Our God is in control.

SMILING PIG – Rejoice in the Lord always.

GREETING CARDS  (ORDER BELOW) – $4.50 ea  or $21 set of 7

No matter our circumstances, if we belong to Jesus, we know that our God is in control. So for this we can be GLAD.

We also know that we will live with Him forever. The troubles we face on this earth are only fleeting compared to the joy we will have in heaven.

So even if your life at the moment seems much like a pig sty, and people keep putting you down, take courage!!  Paul, who wrote those words, faced the same things and more…

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.

Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be evident in our dying bodies.  (2 Cor 4:8-11, NLT)

Again he says the same thing to Roman believers…

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.  (Romans 5:3-5, NLT)

And James wrote a letter to believers, and starts of with…

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.  So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.  (James 1:2-4, NLT)

And the Apostle Peter agrees…

So be truly glad.  There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while.  These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.  (1 Peter 1:6-7, NLT)

So take courage, be blessed, and be a blessing!!

Rejoice Lorikeet – Rejoice in the Lord always.

GREETING CARDS  (ORDER BELOW) – $4.50 ea  or $21 set of 7

Today, I am busy cleaning up and I as I’ve sorted through books and things I found “the Lion Handbook of the Bible”. So I took some time out and looked inside…. went to Philippians 4.  Oh, I like what it says:

(V4-9) – Rejoice, rejoice. The advice comes from a man in prison, facing death; a man who had been stoned and beaten and hounded by the mob. Yet experiences which leave others sour and bitter leave Paul overflowing with joy!

The secret is in verses 6-7: learning how to off-load all our cares on the One who cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). Nothing is beyond Him. Having emptied our minds of worry, the next step is to fill them with the sort of things that will shape a truly Christian character (8).

Ever feel like that? Ever have questions like:

Why do good people have to suffer and the ungodly ones seem to get off scot free? They accumulate lots of wealth, often by exploiting the poor, and they never seem to have any trouble? And what’s the use of being good and doing the right thing when all you get is trouble?

Well, that is exactly how the Psalmist felt at one time. He expresses his feelings and frustrations in Psalm 73:

Truly God is good to Israel, to those whose hearts are pure.
But as for me, I almost lost my footing. My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone.
For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.
They seem to live such painless lives; their bodies are so healthy and strong.
They don’t have troubles like other people; they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else.
They wear pride like a jeweled necklace and clothe themselves with cruelty.
These fat cats have everything their hearts could ever wish for!
They scoff and speak only evil; in their pride they seek to crush others.
They boast against the very heavens, and their words strut throughout the earth.
And so the people are dismayed and confused, drinking in all their words.
“What does God know?” they ask. “Does the Most High even know what’s happening?”
Look at these wicked people— enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply. (v.1-12)

Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep myself innocent for no reason?
I get nothing but trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain. (v.13-14)

Do you ever feel like this? I’m sure we can all relate.

In the next half of the Psalm, he goes into God’s presence and he discovers 7 things!

1. He discovers their end in the next bit.

If I had really spoken this way to others, I would have been a traitor to your people.
So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper. But what a difficult task it is!
Then I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked.
Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction.
In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors.
When you arise, O Lord, you will laugh at their silly ideas as a person laughs at dreams in the morning. (v.15-20)

2. He discovers his own heart!

Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside.
I was so foolish and ignorant – I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you. (v.21-22)

3. He discovers God’s grace!

Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand. (v.23)

4. He discovers his destiny!

You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. (v.24)

5. He discovers his inheritance!

Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth.
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. (v.25-26)

6. He discovers his security!

Those who desert him will perish, for you destroy those who abandon you.
But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter,… (v.27-28a)

7. He discovers his purpose!

… and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do. (v.28b)

So how neat is that?? In the next entries, I want to expound more on some of those points… so please come back!

NB. The translation used in this post is the New Living Translation.

As I’ve mentioned early, the reason I have put this site together is to be able to help missions in Uganda and Kenya.  Some of my friends are evangelists.  Three different ones have spoken in crusades and conference this past weeks.  All of them were in different parts of Kenya and Uganda.

So the Lord is getting His word out there!  And praise God, people are responding!  So many amazing stories can be told.  Here is something one of them shared yesterday…

Hello my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ!

I hope and pray that you are doing well there in Jesus name. This message is the report of the recent crusade that I was ministering in from Tuesday 23rd to Friday 26th August 2011(last week). We left home (Mbarara) at midday and reached in Ishongororo town at around 3:00pm and we started with the crusade.

Thanks to God that there were no rain in the whole week at the place of crusade yet all other places around it were rainy. The crusade went well and many people gave their lives to Jesus.

Then the next day we started with the seminar in the morning at the church that had hosted us and the seminar went well.  I preached about the wedding garment, reading from Matthew 22.  Many people were challenged and after the session we prayed the prayer of repentance, because we all learnt that some have been in salvation yet have lost their wedding garments in many things that they meet on the journey.

After the seminar we went back to the crusade and it was like that everyday till the last day. We saw many people being blessed in the both seminar and crusade and we say many people giving their lives to Jesus and many getting healed.

But in the whole conference there is one thing that blessed and encouraged me a lot to go on carrying the gospel to many places and preach to many lives, because I have seen that God can’t send His word for nothing.

Now on the last day of the conference, I was told to be one of the ending speakers and I prayed to God what message can I share that day and do you know what? God told me to share with these people about the message He put on my heart some years back.  This message has blessed many who open their hearts to receive it and this word was none other than “LOVE IS THE KEY TO HEAVEN”.  But when He led me to share this word I felt like some people are getting tired of hearing this message time to time, because on the team was some people who have been with me in different places where I have shared this word for sometime.  I tried to ignore it. but when I stood up on the pulpit the Lord told me that “my word comes for those who are thirsty for it so it will help those who are thirsty and I want to heal/save someone”. So after hearing that I had nothing to do but only to start and share the message as was prepared.

So I when I was welcomed over I started sharing about love is the key to heaven and I can’t tell you what was the response from the congregation. When I was still sharing as the spirit was leading me, all people were judging themselves, meaning that they have been doing a lot and working a lot for the Lord, but having no love in them.  So many of them were repenting and as I was still sharing, people were touched and they started to come thanking me while I was still preaching.

The first person went out and bought me a bottle of mineral water to take, and other many people started coming unto me putting money/coins into my pocket. This has never happened to me while preaching . To see people coming appreciating the word by putting money into my pocket. It wasn’t much money, but they were showing that they are appreciating the word shared and they didn’t even want me to finish.

So after preaching we entered into a repenting time and the whole congregation was in tears repenting to God and all singers that came up to sing after me brought up songs of repenting because the congregation was touched by the message already.

After preaching I went back into my seat and asked God to forgive me because of trying to ignore the word He wanted to feed to His people.

Then after the seminar, many people even pastors came to me telling me that the message was coming from God direct.  One of them told me that this message was from God for him, because he had a dream where God was reminding him of repenting and forgiving someone, but he didn’t understand.  So as I was preaching God reminded him the dream and revealed to him what He meant.

Another lady came asking me to pray for her God’s strength to forgive a man that bewitched her son, because this man need her to forgive him, which has been hard for her, but she said that according to the message she will forgive that man. The truth is that this last day of the conference was God’s day of moving and many people were blessed and they asked if I can get time and go back soon.

It pained me to see that I wasn’t able to take some photos in this conference. (On Sunday night the night before we left I discovered that my camera battery was down so I removed the battery from the camera and charged it well.  But after charging it I forgot to put it back into the camera so I left the battery in the charger and took the camera without a battery. So to check the camera was empty with no buttery and the reason I forgot the battery is because there was much disturbing me before leaving for the conference. So I missed to have any photo in this Ishongororo conference, but thanks to God that many people were blessed in this conference.

That’s all I have managed to share with you now about the conference but if there is anything you would like to know more feel free to ask me.  And I request you to pray for me in this evangelism work and pray for God’s provision.

So if you would like to know how you can help me reach out to many people with the word of God, contact me.

Be blessed and thanks for taking your time to read through this report.
Yours in Christ, Evangelist Evard Kabaali.
